Tips for Marketing Prime Contractors


• Ask the Subcontracting Plan Administrator’s whether their company holds a vendor counseling session (monthly and/or quarterly);
• It is incumbent upon all small business concerns to ensure that your company is registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database www.ccr.gov and that all service-disabled and veteran-owned small business concerns must also register in the Department of Veterans Affairs, Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) Vendor Information Pages www.vetbiz.gov, as well as updating your profile as often as possible;
• Some companies have procedures that you must comply with; therefore, investigate what they are before hand;
• Ask the SBLO’s whether there is a web site that you must register in;
• Ensure that your capability statement relates to the products and/or services that your company is able to perform;
• Attend conferences so that you can meet and network with the primes SBLO’s. The Small Business Administration has a calendar of all upcoming conferences/events located at www.sba.gov;
• If you hold a GSA Schedule, inform the prime contractor;
• Inquire whether the company has a mentor protégé program
